JDI Services, a leading company based in Canada, manages multiple subsidiaries across various regions. Handling these companies efficiently in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central was challenging, especially when setting up new companies and consolidating financial data across different regions.
The Challenges
JDI Services encountered several challenges:
1. Time-Consuming Setup:
Every time a new company was created in Business Central, it required setting up everything from scratch, which took a lot of time and resources.
2. Complex Financial Reporting :
Consolidating financial reports across regions while maintaining a consistent chart of accounts was difficult, making it hard to view and analyze financial data together.
3. Manual Reporting :
Generating custom reports was manual, leading to errors and delays due to the lack of automation.
The Solution
We introduced a practical solution in Business Central:
1. Blank Company Template :
We created a pre-configured blank company template that could be copied whenever a new company was needed. This template ensured all necessary setups were already in place, saving time and reducing errors during the setup process.
2. Financial Consolidation :
We standardized the financial reports by maintaining a single chart of accounts across all companies. This made it easier to manage and view financial data, offering a clear, unified picture of the company’s financial health.
3. Dimension Mapping :
We used dimension mapping to organize and analyze financial information effectively across different regions, simplifying data viewing and reporting.
4. Automated Report Generation :
We automated the custom report generation using the Job Queue feature in Business Central. Reports were automatically generated with the correct dates and document numbers each month, cutting down manual work and minimizing errors. General ledger entries were also automatically generated, boosting the efficiency of financial processes.
5. Power BI Integration:
To improve data visualization, we integrated Power BI reports into the role center. This allowed JDI Services to easily access and analyze their data in real-time, providing valuable insights for decision-making.
The Result
This solution significantly reduced the time and effort needed to set up new companies in Business Central, enabling JDI Services to scale their operations efficiently. The standardized chart of accounts and dimension mapping made financial consolidation and reporting across regions seamless. The automation of custom reports and the integration of Power BI enhanced operational efficiency and data-driven decision-making, positioning JDI Services for ongoing growth and success.
